3 Porthminster B&B – Access Statement
We aim to cater for the needs of all our guests at our four bedroom bed and breakfast. If you have any questions with regards to our following access statement please feel free to ask and we will do our best to help.
3 Porthminster is a 3 storey granite built terraced house. Originally built around 1900 to house Sea Captains, Porthminster Terrace is set slightly above the centre of town. Due to the nature of the building the house is unsuitable for wheelchair access.
We are located on the Porthminster beach side of St Ives just off the main access road. The town centre is within a five minute walk away, downhill either by road and/or steps. Please see our Map & Location page for more detailed information on how to find us.
Arrival and Car Parking Facilities
Rooms are available from 3 pm although you are welcome to leave any luggage earlier. As we are only a small b&b we do ask that guests arrive by 7 pm. If you are delayed please give us a call and we can arrange a late check in.
We have a small private driveway at the front of the house with space for three average sized cars, with two parked in tandem on one side. Depending on the size of guests’ cars it is usually possible to get three cars on the drive. In the event of only two being able to park on the drive, one will be parked across the top. We have one further space at the back of the house reached by an access lane.
Please check with us before booking if you will be arriving by van/camper van.
Parking spaces for new arrivals are not available until after 10.30 am.
There is a large public car park (1000 spaces) a few minutes walk up the hill at the Leisure Centre and more information can be found on the Cornwall Council website here.

Main Entrance & Reception
The front door has a threshold step 13cm high and 101cm wide. There is a further step to the door which is 17cm high and 87cm wide. The door bell is located on the left hand side of the inner door. The inner door is 77cm wide. Our contact details can be found on the front door. The porchway is laid with original tiles and the entrance hallway is original wooden floorboards.
The breakfast room is through the first door on the right after entering the hallway. The guest lounge is situated adjacent to the breakfast room. The floor surface of both of these rooms is original wooden floorboards. There are lamps operated by timer switches in the guest lounge and on the first and second floor landings. The emergency lights in the hallway and stairs are permanently illuminated.
From the ground floor to the first floor there are 17 steps (of 18cm) to the first floor and a further 15 steps to the second floor.
Room 1 is on the first floor and the door width to the room is 76cm. There is a double bed in the centre of the room and an en-suite shower room. There is a 27cm threshold step in to the shower. A small two seat sofa sits in the bay window. The floor surface is exposed original floorboards.
Room 2 is on the first floor and the door width to the room is 80cm. There is a double bed and an en-suite shower room. There is a 17cm threshold step in to the shower. The bedroom floor is carpeted.
Room 3 is on the second floor and the door width to the room is 73cm. There is a double bed and an en-suite shower room. There is a 14cm threshold step in to the shower. The bedroom floor is carpeted.
Room 4 is on the second floor and the door width to the room is 71cm. There is a double bed and an en-suite shower room. There is a 9cm threshold step in to the shower. The bedroom floor is carpeted.
Check out is by 10.00 am on your last day. Parking spaces must also be vacated by this time.
